In 2014, L. Bradley Schwartz received the James D. Jacobson Memorial Award from the Chicago Legal Clinic, LLC for his outstanding efforts in making the legal system accessible to those in need.
Brad’s personal experiences prompted him to take on cases that are meaningful to him versus whatever comes his way. According to Brad, “I really wanted to expand what I was doing. I know what it takes to try a case, to go against different types of lawyers and judges. I’ve probably done thousands of depositions, thousands of arbitration hearings, and hundreds of jury trials. I can bring all this to the table.”
The Chicago Legal Clinic, LLC has been a prime beneficiary of those skills. According to Clinic Executive Director Ed Grossman, “We appreciate the hundreds of hours of pro bono service Brad has provided the clinic and the level of skill and experience he brings. He does not let his disability define him. He’s just a great lawyer.”
Brad noted, “I’m proud of this award. I’m in a unique position because I have the time, opportunity and stability to do this. But I benefit too. Working with the clinic has taken me to new areas of the law which has been gratifying for me, in addition to allowing me to help people who otherwise could not afford high-quality legal services.
